Here’s a tutorial I did for the wonderful guys at Pixel for Life on how to create a brushed aluminum button with an inset lighted icon. This is achieved by using layer styles which is great because that means you can change the button or the icon to ANY shape and simply copy the layer style to create new buttons! So be sure to check it out along with the other great tutorials at PixelForLife.com.
As a graphic designer with 8 years design experience, you would think I would have learned web design long ago. Think again. I, like so many other designers, went through courses in college that, for the most part, make you choose between web and print. I chose the latter. My focus became branding, print and logo design with a very limited knowledge of web development. In the past, I have done some front end design work for web, but it never involved coding. When I decided to launch the Digital Yard Sale, I saw it as my chance to change this.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you a quick technique for creating a sewn thread look perfect for that hand-made design you’ve been working so diligently on. You can download the texture used in this tutorial HERE.
